Ongoing Growth
Machinewell,
Inc. has experienced ongoing growth since the mid-1990's in their customer
base, employee base, and
annual
revenues - and they are on the mark to grow again. To meet the
challenges of the company's 'new growth' initiative,
50 Machinewell employees will receive training through a state workforce-training
grant.
Operator Development
Operator
development, automation/robotic utilization, lean manufacturing workshops,
and facelift learning activities
will be
funded through a
public/private partnership between the State of Minnesota and Machinewell,
Inc., which specializes in CNC machining, and robotic and manual
welding in Grygla. A $49,813 Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP)
grant was awarded September 04, 2003 to Northland Community & Technical
College at a grant-signing ceremony at Machinewell.
"What is important
about this partnership is its focus on increasing the skills of an
incumbent worker in the manufacturing industry, where
prospects at both state and national levels continue to move from the sidelines,"
said Matt Kramer, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development
(DEED) Commissioner and JSP Board Chair. "In
addition this project will prepare operators to take a national certification
test."
NC&TC
will refine educational opportunities for rural manufacturing companies
and continue to develop new curriculum, as a result of the
grant. It is anticipated newly trained employees will allow Machinewell
to exceed their corporate goals.
